At Prime Minister's Questions, David Cameron accused Gordon Brown and his Government of "running around like headless chickens" and failing to take real action to tackle the recession.
He attacked Labour for announcing initiative after initiative but then not ensuring these schemes actually get up-and-running and start providing real help during the downturn.
"We've just had the view from the bunker where all these schemes are operating, where everything has been implemented and the fact is on the ground these things aren't happening."
David listed the Government projects that are not yet working:
-
The home owners mortgage support scheme
-
Recruitment subsidies for the unemployed
-
The asset-backed security scheme
With new figures revealing the unemployment figure has risen above 2 million, David warned that the Government's activity was the worst combination of "ineffectiveness and hyperactivity".
And he asked, "Isn't it the case that he has led us to this point without a hint of an apology and the British people will never forget it?"
