William Hague has condemned the “cowardly attack” against Sri Lanka's cricket team by terrorists in Pakistan.
The Shadow Foreign Secretary said he was “shocked” by the attack in the city of Lahore, and warned it was an attempt to “create fear and isolate and destabilise Pakistan”.
He called on the Pakistani government to continue to intensify its efforts to tackle extremism and terrorism on its soil – and he stressed that they will need the full support of the international community to do so.
William also expressed his sympathy for the victims and their families:
“We hope that the injured individuals are able to make full recoveries and offer our condolences to the families of those killed.”
