Andrew was born and raised in East Yorkshire and has lived in the region all his life. Andrew now lives in the beautiful village of Airmyn, near Goole where he serves as a local Parish Counncillor He graduated from York University and undertook post-graduate study in Leeds.

Andrew trained and worked as a secondary school teacher, specialising in History, and has worked in a number of schools across East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. He is passionate about the state sector and has taught in some of the toughest schools in the region.

Andrew now teaches part-time in a Primary School on the edge of Scunthorpe and also serves as a School Governor.

Andrew plays an active role within the community and is a supporter of a number of resident and community groups. Andrew has also raised money for a number of good causes including Snaith St John Ambulance, Brigg Primary School and the Scunthorpe Cat Rescue.

Andrew Percy's Experience

Despite being from a 'not naturally Conservative background' Andrew got involved in the party as a teenager by helping out delivering leaflets for the local branch. Since then Andrew has been integral part of the local party and he has served the local area as a Councillor for some years. Andrew is also Vice Chairman of the Hull and Goole Port Health Authority.

Andrew is fighting hard on a number of local issues including fighting for a fairer deal for our underfunded local schools as well as fighting for more police resources in the local area. Andrew also led the charge against Labour's most recent round of Post Office closures which robbed even more communities of their local Post Office.

One of the biggest issues to the local area is the cost of the tolls on the Humber Bridge, which are the most expensive in the country. Andrew was recently part of a campaign which helped to stop a proposed rise in the tolls. He has also helped to  secure a pledge from Shadow Transport Secretary, Theresa Villiers MP, that a future Conservative government will initiate a full treasury led review of the tolls.

Andrew believes the most important role of an MP is to represent their constituents and to work hard to resolve local problems. That's why Andrew is engaging with residents at a very local level to help fight for the local community on the issues that matter to them.

Andrew is also a supporter of a number of pressure groups including, the Countryside Alliance, The National Trust and The Campaign Against Political Correctness. He is also a member of the teaching union VOICE (Professional Association of Teachers).
